Nursery Theme

Deciding on a nursery theme for a little boy's room was not a difficult decision.  Eric is a huge car buff, so what better theme could there be than a vintage car theme?  It won't be a very baby-ish nursery, but it will be a nursery that will grow with LBD.  We have already ordered most everything that we plan to put on the walls.  I'm very excited to show it to you once it all arrives.  For now, I can show you what we have so far.  Please enjoy!

Here is my weekend project.  I made these little clothing dividers for LBD's closet.  I think they turned out really cute!

This could be my favorite thing for LBD's room.  We were in California at the beginning of January.  While visiting the Santa Monica pier (the end of Route 66), we spotted this Route 66 vendor.  This is an exact iron replica of the Route 66 sign.  We somehow managed to get to get it through airport security!

These two photos are also California souvenirs.  We spotted this vintage car shop while driving on Sunset Blvd.  This shop was filled with cool vintage cars.  We were surprised to find that they had a gift shop.  We bought these prints who were made by a local artist.  They will hang above the dresser.

Lastly, I found these finials for our window hardware.  They look like little old Ford trucks, kind of like the one Eric used to drive.  Aren't they cute?

That is what we have so far.  I will be posting updates as we get them done.  We will be painting the nursery within the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

We have a big doctor's appointment Tuesday morning.  This will be our anatomy scan.  It will be fun to see how LBD has grown.  Hopefully, everything will check out normally and we can continue to enjoy the pregnancy!  I will be sure to post pictures of our little guy.

21 Weeks!

We are at 21 weeks now!  Wow, time is flying!  What is LBD up to this week?  LBD is the size of a banana this week.  Now, LBD gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.   I hope LBD likes sweets :)

In other fun news, we registered this weekend!  This past Saturday, we spent two whole hours perusing the aisles at Babies 'r Us.  Eric was such a trooper (I think it was the scanner gun) as we chose between the millions of choices and brands.  There is a lot of stuff in there!  If it weren't for all of the research I did, we both would have run out of that store screaming and/or crying!

We also bit the bullet and purchased baby furniture.  We bought a crib, dresser, and glider (which we will have upholstered to match the nursery).  We are so excited for it to arrive so we can get started on the nursery!  Here are the pics of what we bought:

20 Weeks! Half Way There!

Today is a big milestone. I am 20 weeks, which means LBD is half baked! It is a little overwhelming thinking that we are 20 weeks or less away from meeting our little boy, yet we don't really have much done yet. Mild freak out! Anyways, we are so happy to have made it this far. Here is a 20 week belly picture:

LBD is now the size of a cantaloupe! He is approximately 6.5 inches and 10.6 ounces.

Oh the places we will go...

LBD may only be 20 weeks old, but he is already a world traveler! Or at least an Americas traveler. Since we found out about LBD, we have not slowed down. During the fall, we journeyed to Tuscaloosa on multiple occasions to watch Alabama play. LBD is now a seasoned tailgater! Then came Christmas. We had a busy 3 weeks planned. We went on a cruise, went home to Huntsville, and travelled to California for the BCS National Championship. LBD has already been in planes, trains, and automobiles (and a very large boat!) Check out the pics from our past month.

Us and LBD outside of the Rose Bowl before Alabama played Texas in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.

And we won!!

We are almost half way there, so I wanted to start this blog so our family and friends can follow us on this journey to parenthood. Everything has gone well so far and LBD (little baby Deahl) is growing fast! We are looking foward to a healthy pregnancy.

I want to start by sharing our pregnancy story through pictures. Please enjoy!
