More Christmas Fun!

We have been filling our days with Christmas cheer!  We have seen Santa, decorated our tree, enjoyed holiday parties and took a visit to Stone Mountain.  It's funny how having a kid makes you feel like a kid again at Christmas!  I love seeing his face light up he sees lights and decorations.  He loves inflatables!

Last weekend we went to Stone Mountain for a Stone Mountain Christmas.  If you have never heard of Stone Mountain, Google it.  It is a really cool place.  We didn't have enough time there to enjoy all of the attractions, but we had a great time!  We got to see a show and see Santa in a parade.  When it got dark, the entire place is lit up!  It is gorgeous!

Our visit with Santa
He was just a bit confused, but there were no tears!  I think that is a success!

Excited to go to Stone Mountain

This picture perfectly captures the mood of the evening!  Jackson was having a blast!

Waiting for the parade to start

It's "snowing"!

Enjoying the lights!

Just a taste of all the lights (this doesn't do it justice)

Merry Christmas!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The Deahl house has been getting into the swing of Christmas!  I cannot begin to explain how excited I am for Christmas this year.  Jackson doesn't quite "get it" but he is so excited by the lights and sounds!  We think he has even said "Santa."  It is so adorable!

Eric and I kicked off December by having a date night to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Thank you MiMi!)  It was a great concert and a great start to the season!  Then, we went Christmas tree hunting.  Jackson loved the Christmas tree farm!  Mom and Dad got to sneak away for ANOTHER date night (how lucky are we to have such amazing parents?!) for Eric's Christmas party.  This time we got spiffed up and partied the night away (ok...until 11, maybe) in B'ham.  Grandpa and Grandma treated Jackson with his first movie.  Sources say Jackson LOVED the movie!  He couldn't take his eyes off the new Muppets movie, also known as the "mutts."  We can't wait to see what the next couple of weeks have in store.  We have so many fun things planned!

Date night!

An incredible light show!

Happy Turkey Day!

I'm finally getting around to updating this blog!  We'll start with Thanksgiving.  We went to G-ma and G-pa Deahl's for Thanksgiving.  It was a wonderful time filled with family, food, football and a few surprises too!

Snacks on the couch

Watching TV with Great Uncle John

Checking out the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade

Jackson got to see where Uncle Chad works.  He had the coolest job working with horses!

Now for the surprise!  G-ma and G-pa Deahl are both turning 50 within the next month.  The kids decided to put together a little surprise party while everyone was in town for the holiday.  Needless to day, there were lots of little white lies.  They were pretty surprised!

Happy Birthday!

Bedroom Makeover Part 3 - Finally Finished (For Now)

Here is the final product!  I am so pleased with how the room turned out.  I think it actually came together better than I imagined.  This room was one huge DIY project.  BIG BIG thanks to our parents for pitching in on this!  It would have never been completed without them!  From keeping Jackson while we worked, painting the walls, painting the furniture and sewing drapes/pillows, they were just as involved with this makeover as we were.  The room isn't totally complete.  I still need to find something for above the headboard and some other final touches, but the room is complete enough that I couldn't wait to show you!

The headboard I found at Scott's Antique Market - It was painted white

I found the antique mirror at Scott's too; that place ROCKS!

Me and Theresa sewed these grey pillows.  They are really fun!

We sewed the drapes too!

Now, we can just relax!!! :)

Bedroom Part 2 - Family Heirloom

This is probably my favorite project for the room.  My parents were housing my great-great grandmother's cedar chest in their garage.  I thought it would be perfect for our room, plus I loved the idea of restoring a family heirloom.  The inside of the truck looks brand new; the outside was another story.  The veneer was in pretty rough shape after many years in our rec room and several run ins with our pet bunny.  Now, I am not expert.  This is the first time I have even painted furniture, but I love LOVE how it turned out.  I used the same paint that I used for the wall to make it pop in the room.  Check out the before and afters!

Before

Part of the veneer had to be removed because it was in pretty bad shape

After

Isn't the inside cool?  It looks like new and is gorgeous!

I added a stencil on top to give it a special touch
